What's included

Class Experience

This class is a flexible schedule class covering 4 weeks. This class covers Black or African American history focusing on inventors. There are no live meetings to this class, but ample opportunities to interface and interact with other students from around the world.  While there are no live meetings, it is very important to watch the lessons and complete the assignments to get the most out of the course. Students will learn through video, PDF handouts and worksheet assignments. Handouts will be provided by the teacher. I will post a video lesson every Monday of myself reviewing the weeks objective utilizing PowerPoint slides. I will also post video links for the students to watch. Please be aware that while the video links have been screened, any link to an outside source could have ads that change daily. 

This flex class will be interactive in the following ways:
•	Students responding to other students' thoughts and observations about the inventors and their inventions within classroom portal.
•	Students using the record video to answer questions with the ability to upload the content for other students and the teacher to watch.
•	Students addressing the weekly discussion topic in the student portal.

This class is designed for middle and high school students. Students will learn about African American male inventors in this course. This is a great way for all students to learn more about black history in America. No background knowledge is required, just a willingness to learn and there is no learner evaluation.

Students will learn about the following inventors and their inventions.

Week 1 Garret Morgan and Benjamin Banneker
Week 2 George Washington Carver 
Week 3 Matthew A. Cherry and Charles Drew
Week 4 Alfred L. Cralle and Lonnie Johnson

Learning Goals

This class will also offer a weekly online discussion in our Outschool online classroom, where students will be able to interact with their peers and the teacher.  Please note that the amount of interaction will vary from class to class, depending on student enrollment. The teacher will moderate the forum. Students will be able to access the forum at any time during the course. This will allow students from variety of time zones to have the chance to interact with their fellow students and teacher. The teacher will post a weekly discussion topic and encourage students to participate and interact.

Students only need a pen or pencil and paper to take notes for the class. All  handout materials will be provided by the teacher.
