US Grade 1 - 3
(I am WA State Certified Teacher with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.) In this class, learners can expect the following as how a typical class may flow: Greeting everyone and checking in about their day I'll read from Amelia Bedelia and ask questions during the story and/or afterwards I'll teach by asking questions out loud about some idoms such as "what did Mr. and Mrs. really mean by "change the towels?" or make up true or false questions, etc We will also take turns listening and sharing what our favorite part of the story was or other questions where students can share their own opinions. I encourage students if they would like to have their own Amelia Bedelia book to follow along with their own copy they own or even checked out from the library if possible! Amazon has many of her stories. Or after the class, those are places to look if they'd like to buy or check the story out to hear/read again!
Learning Goals
Students will learn about some idiom expressions. We will talk about the literal and actual meaning of the idiom. Students will also practice making predictions. Students will practice sharing and listening to others share answers.

I am an experienced online English as a Second Language teacher as well as other subjects, and a mom of an elementary age child. classes.
I have been teaching online English classes to ESL students since 2012. Currently, I work for another company where I tutor children in K-12th grade depending on the subject.
I joined Outschool because I enjoy making my own classes and teaching people from around the world. As of now, I've taught someone from all continents except Antarctica and Africa.
Before teaching online, I was an Elementary substitute classroom teacher, nanny, and tutor.
I enjoy teaching and interacting with children all of ages. Some students have told me they wish class time wasn't over or how they had so much fun! I am able to be serious and also funny with puppets or other props depending on the learner's age. I am a friendly teacher with a calm presence and have seen shy students warm up to talking once they get used to me.
I have been told and know I do a great job building a connection with students and encouraging participation.
I am a published children's author of short children's stories meant for ESL students that are available in Asia. I have copies of my books within reach if there's a time to read from them like in a tutoring class. I'd be more than happy to read and discuss the short stories.
My family likes to play tennis, play games, and travel in addition to being creative and curious about life! We are looking forward to our next cruise this Summer.
I sincerely look forward to teaching your learner in one of my classes.
