In this series by Mr. Powell of HistoryAtOurHouse students will be guided in developing visual art-appreciation skills by looking at the greatest art ever made. These are fundamentally the same skills that are used in "History Through Art" courses, but now they will be applied to art that does not necessarily have historical content or themes. Famous artists such as Raphael, Rembrandt, and William Adolphe Bouguereau will of course be featured, and in this installment the amazing: Jacques-Louis David! Parents are encouraged to participate, and to rediscover the beauty of the greatest representational art ever produced. This three part series, where three images will be examined per class, will feature art works such as: -The Oath of the Horatii (the cover image) -Bonaparte Crossing the Alps and -The Death of Socrates Parents are invited to search for these images on images.google.com to see how spectacular they are! Welcome to the world of AMAZING ARTISTS!
