Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
During each class students will learn fun, interesting, and awesome facts about one or two animals each class. For each lesson I will give clues about an animal and the children will have opportunities to guess which animal we will be learning about that day. The students will be introduced to sight words and practice echo reading a sentence about each animal. Students will be encouraged to read the sentence together as a group or individually. Each animal we learn about will have a few simple sentences we will practice reading during each lesson. In addition to the sentences I will be asking questions and giving interesting, amazing, and sometimes funny facts. Some of the sight words we will be learning include the, is, are, can, we, eat, a, so, have, like, and has. After class I will send a practice page for your child to practice reading the sentences and sight word. This is an ongoing class that will renew every Sunday of the week a class is scheduled. If your child will be unable to attend classes in a week you can unsubscribe from the class prior to Sunday and you won't be charged for that week. I look forward to learning awesome animal facts with your child!

I absolutely love teaching! In my class we have fun learning to read, write, and practice math skills. In addition to academic classes, I also enjoy teaching character building concepts such as perseverance, kindness, and self control. I have been a kindergarten teacher for the last 14 years and a preschool teacher for several years before earning my degree in Early Elementary and my Masters in Special Education from the University of Florida. I teach classes to help young learners build confidence, continue their curiosity of new skills and have fun learning. I love teaching children about animals and I have some fun guided reading classes where we also learn amazing animal facts. I have had training on best practices in teaching, growth mindset, character counts training, and have taken several reading endorsement classes. I use songs, silly stories, and chants to help learners learn new skills. I hope to foster a love of learning and help your child be the best they can be.

I started teaching on Outschool in 2020 and I have met the most wonderful learners these past few years. Along with teaching amazing learners on Outschool I also homeschool my son who has Down syndrome. I have also developed a reading and learning program for my son and other learners with intellectual disabilities. I have been tutoring young learners with Down syndrome with my program as well as teaching a class to a small group of learners with Ds at our local Down syndrome association once a week.

I am so excited to teach and encourage your learner! My goal is to make learning fun and give your learner the tools and practice they need to learn new skills. I love using a multi sensory approach to learning.
