Learners will have an opportunity to explore with letters and letter sounds in preparation for an alphabet party. This engaging and hands-on interactive course will help learners gain the early literacy skills they need for reading.

Beginner Level
This course will help learners recognize upper and uppercase letters and their sounds. Multi-sensory tactics are used to help them benefit from a variety of experiences that cater to different learning styles and preferences, ultimately enhancing their understanding and engagement with the content. Some of the multi-sensory strategies include visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile activities which will include slides, video clips, games, interactive board, and discussions. At the beginning of the 10-week course the learner will be given a pre-assessment to determine their present level and a post-assessment to measure their overall progress. This fun, interactive course is not only designed to help learners with identifying and recognizing letters and letter sounds, but to ultimately help young learners gain the early literacy skills they need for reading.

Hi, my name is Vanessa Brookins, PhD
My classes consist of Early Literacy, Reading, and Math. The Early Literacy and Reading classes consist of phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The math classes consist of solving math equation and word problems using number’s operations that involves addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Other areas include solving math word problems using multi-step equations. I also work with students requiring special education services (IEP or 504).
My professional background consists of a teaching certification encompassing Pre-K through 3rd grade, Special Education K-12 Certification, and Education Leadership and Administration Certification. I have effectively taught students across a wide spectrum of educational levels, from early childhood to high school.
I believe that education is a lifelong process, and my role as an educator is to inspire, motivate, and guide students on their path to becoming independent, critical thinkers who are well-equipped to navigate challenges and succeed academically and beyond. Along with teaching, I also enjoy traveling, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with family.Reviews
