Alpha Girls Book Club-Middle School (Ages 11-14)
This inspiring book club for middle school aged students will feature books with strong female protagonists. We will meet weekly to dive into the plot, characters, themes, and overall impressions of the book of the month.

Homework Offered
Students will need to arrive to the first class of the month with approximately a quarter (1/4) of the book read in advance. After each class, an additional fourth will be read (I will let the students know what chapters to read or page numbers to read to). On the last class of the month, we will discuss the whole book. Students are encouraged to not read ahead, as to not accidentally reveal spoilers in the class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Neurodivergent and/or students with unique learning needs are welcome and encouraged to join! I am happy to cater to the needs and styles of the learners.
Students will need to purchase or borrow the book featured in that month's session, books are not provided. They will need to have read approximately the first quarter of the book before the first class.
Students will be asked to introduce themselves and be given an opportunity to share their pronouns. All books chosen are listed as appropriate for middle school level ages. Please feel free to look up the book ahead of time on a site such as commonsensemedia.org. Some discussions will highlight topics such as bullying, loss/grief, mental health struggles, and friendships. If sensitive subject matter such as (but not limited to): clinically significant anxiety or depression, sexuality, drugs/alcohol, or self-harm are brought up, I will not engage these conversations during class and I will send a message to you immediately after class.
