This will be a highly interactive class discussing this summer's Olympics. The goal is for learners to be familiar with items they will see when they watch the summer games. We will cover the following during the class: 1) how the host city of an Olympics game is chosen. 2) the mascots of the Tokyo games and their meaning. 3) how athletes qualify for the Olympics. 4) Olympic venues and layout in Japan. Learners will be encouraged to participate throughout. I like to ask questions to get learners thinking and participating.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Jake! I have a BA in Political Science and Spanish. For the past nine and a half years I've worked for a youth-serving nonprofit organization. I spent five of those years as a program director responsible for creating age appropriate programming for youth between the ages of five and ten. I've also been fortunate enough through this organization to work at summer camp for eight summers teaching a number of skills based subjects.
I endeavor to make my classes highly engaging and fun. Students should expect to be asked lots of questions during class rather than sitting in a lecture as I believe this helps students develop their critical thinking skills.
You'll find me teaching classes about outdoor skills, civics, and even some sports. I hope to see you in class!
