Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
This is a basic science course about plants. Plants provide us with many of our human needs. I will encourage discussion and interaction on the topic. I have many visuals of real plants in class. I will be sharing a giant flower as well as many plants straight from the garden. We will explore what plants need to grow. Students will brainstorm what resources plants provide for us. We will have a fun discussion of foods we eat that come from plants then create a basic drawing of the parts of a plant. Students are not required to draw along but are invited to do so. We will all interact in a lively game of “guess the part of the plant”. This will be a typing challenge also! The teacher will show different foods and students will race to name the part of the plant it comes from. At closing students have time to ask questions and discuss plants.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Dani!
A little about my background in teaching:
I attended the University of Hawaii where I studied Education and earned a Bachelors in Art. I earned my Montessori certificate from North American Montessori and taught Pre-school for two years. I furthered my Montessori training and taught the Elementary class (1-3rd grade). Two years ago I began teaching English online. I am truly amazed at the connections and learning that can happen through the computer screen! I was an interventionist at my local K-2 school working with students who need support in reading and math.
I live in Louisiana with my husband and two children. I love animals, I love to grow fruits and vegetables in my garden. I think creating a love of learning begins with a human connection. I like to have fun and be happy in classes.
You may notice all of my classes (except P.E.) are for a maximum of 6 students. I like to keep my class size smaller to encourage student output and participation.
I will see you in class thank you!
