Roald Dahl was a British novelist, short-story writer, poet, screenwriter, and wartime fighter of Norwegian descent. In this session, students will be given an overview presentation about the author focusing on only general parts of his life and his famous works for children. I will foster the appreciation of a writer's work. Students will be given a list of some of his works for children. Titles will include: Matilda, The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach. Students will get a chance to listen to excerpts from Roald Dahl's work be read out loud to them and note parts they like.

Students will learn about Roald Dahl (general focus) and some of his written work.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
I understand that Roald Dahl made controversial comments in his lifetime. For the purpose of this session, I wish to only focus on a age appropriate overview just to give students some context into an author's life. We will focus more on his craft as a children's novel writer. I will directly state the purpose. I will state behavior norms before I present the general overview of his life. I will not open the floor for comments to minimize the chance that a student may bring up aspects that I did not intent to explain. If a comment should steer the lesson to an undesirable direction, I intend to quickly remind students of my expectations.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
