Class Experience
Your student will learn how to code with JavaScript, the world's most popular coding language. There is no experience necessary for this class and will be fun for everyone! The first half of the class we will be learning the foundations of JavaScript and in the second we will apply these skills to building fun projects with JavaScript. Some games we will build include Rock, Paper, Scissors, Login System, Space Jumper, and a Mad Libs game. This is a highly interactive class with students interacting with other students and the instructor regularly during class. Your student will be amazed at what they can do at the end of 8 weeks and be ready to continue their coding journey. Week 1 Meet JavaScript! How Do Computers Run? Final Coding Challenge (1 -2 hours) Outschool Flexible Schedule Courses This course includes pre-recorded video lessons and coding projects that can be watched at a time convenient for your student! This course covers the same material as the 8 - week live course also offered on Outschool. Students can ask questions or get assistance with coding projects at anytime during the week. They can post directly to the Outschool classroom or direct message the instructor at anytime. Students are also strongly encouraged to share code, projects, and questions with the class. This helps students engage with other students and the instructor. Please, send me a message if you have any questions about the course. Build Fun Games and Projects with JavaScript Over the last 4 weeks of the course, students will complete 4 projects and games with JavaScript. These projects include: Mad Libs Rock, Paper, Scissors Login System Space Jumper Group Game Project These projects allow students to apply what they have learned with JavaScript while building a fun projects! JavaScript Group Game Project The last 3 weeks of the class, we will work on a group game project using JavaScript. Each student will add code and features to our group game. This is will allow students to practice what we have learned in class and also start working with other coders. Each week we will review our group game and by, the end of the course, the class have completed a game that can be shared with others! Interactive Groups Build the Foundation of Code Skills Every student will post questions, sample code, and their projects every step of the way. This gives students the chance to learn from each other and start practicing reading code. The instructor will also be providing feedback and guidance regularly throughout the course. The class is a supportive, positive, and fun environment for all students! Learning Goals
Students will be introduced to JavaScript and learn the foundations of the language. This allows them to confidently move onto more complex code and continue their coding journey. The class is also intended to encourage students to get excited about the possibilities of coding and computer science!
