You have been asking for guinea pigs and we are here to deliver! You will get to meet our two guinea pigs, Pinky and Brain, who reside here at Sunset Wildlife Connection, an exotic animal rescue and animal outreach program located in the sunny state of Florida. We will talk about Pinky and Brain's rescue story, where guinea pigs come from, what they eat, how to care for them as pets, and cool fun facts about them. Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Margaret and I have dedicated my life to animals and wildlife conservation. I have been working with animals my whole professional life and have more than 10 years of experience working with both exotic and domestic animals.
I have an Associate's Degree in Zoo Animal Technology from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida where I worked as a zookeeper while achieving the degree. After working as a professional animal trainer for years, I attended the University of West Florida to achieve my Bachelors of Arts in Legal Studies with a minor in Environmental Science. I am now currently enrolled at the University of Florida as a masters student in the Wildlife Forensics and Conservation Masters of Science program.
In 2019, I volunteered for two weeks in Kenya where I helped gather informational research with African elephants, lions, cheetah, leopards, and other African wildlife. In 2021, I co-founded Sunset Wildlife Connection, a nonprofit exotic animal rescue and animal outreach program. It is through this nonprofit that I am able to teach classes with live animals!
In all of our classes, you will meet live animals from Sunset Wildlife Connection's collection of mostly rescued and rehomed exotic animals. We cover many different topics with the large variety of species we have rescued, including animal husbandry (caring for animals), wildlife conservation, cool animal facts, and more.
To learn more about our nonprofit, visit us at sunsetwildlifeconnection.org. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or class suggestions you would like to see. I will try and respond to messages within 24 hours but since we work with live animals, we may take a little longer to respond.
