US Grade 3 - 6
In this one time 30 min class we will be learning all about the rocks that are born not made: chemical sedimentary rocks. We will discuss how they form, the different types of chemical rocks, where they come from, and why they are important. We will also learn how to identify different chemical sedimentary rocks through their fossil content, the types of minerals they are made of, and their depositional environment. Learners will be encouraged to ask questions and discuss amongst themselves about the different types of rocks they have seen. No prior knowledge or experience is required for this class, but my All About Rocks class would provide a great background for understanding the exciting world of chemical sedimentary rocks. This class is the third in a series of four standalone classes on the different types of rocks. This series of rock classes can be taken in any order, but this class makes sense as the third of the four.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about chemical sedimentary rocks, how they form and what makes them special.
