Ants are interesting!

🐜🐜🐜In this one time class, students will listen to a non fiction ant book read with fluency during the "research" part of the class. During the directed drawing portion of the class, the students will draw and color an ant life cycle and retell the life stages of an ant. They will share the ant life cycles with their classmates, if they feel comfortable doing so. The students will then label the four life cycle stages of an ant. Their finished ALL ABOUT ANTS research project can be displayed on the refrigerator or a bedroom wall for all to admire!
Learning Goals
-Students will use listening skills by focusing on ant facts.
-Students will use research skills to gather information about ants.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom. My name is Betty Nilssen. I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I incorporate math, writing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers, as well.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started! Use code: BettyNi2020 at checkout to try your first class and get $20 off. Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop their academic skills and gain academic confidence. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child! Mrs. Nilssen
