Class Experience

US Grade Preschool
Welcome to Animal Alphabet Circle Time! We're going to have so much fun learning about the letters of the alphabet together!
Each time we meet, we'll see a new animal friend who will introduce the letter of the day. We'll have story time, sing fun songs, make a letter using Play-Doh, and color an Animal Alphabet Coloring Page if time allows. You can bring a stuffed animal to class that goes along with the animal we're learning about if you'd like. Your child is welcome to work on coloring the Animal Alphabet Coloring Page during class if that would help them focus. I hope to see you soon!

For this class, you'll need:
Play-Doh (in the color of your choice)
A Reusable Dry Erase Pocket (for the Letter of the Day Play-Doh Mat PDF that I will send the day before class)
Crayons or Markers
Printable PDF pages (Play-Doh Letter Mat and Letter of the Day Coloring Page; I will send the day before class)

This class is highly engaging and interactive! I will use puppet characters and other props to keep students' interest. Your child will meet lots of fun characters, like Leo the Lion, Bella the Bunny, and Doug the Dog, and they'll have opportunities to learn their letters in different ways.

Here is the schedule of what we will be learning in class each week:

Note about the mute/unmute settings: Since this is a class for young learners, I will be using the mute/unmute button during class so that everyone can hear me and so that everyone gets a chance to speak in class. Before class, it would be helpful to either teach your child how to mute/unmute, have an adult nearby to mute/unmute for your child, or to change the settings so that the teacher can control the mute/unmute settings for your child.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! 😊

I'm Ms. Elizabeth, an early literacy and reading tutor for grades Pre-K through 2nd Grade. I also teach online preschool for ages 3-5 as well as art and reading/writing classes for ages 6-9.

My classes are fun, interactive, and highly engaging for young learners. I incorporate music, movement, stories, art, and hands-on learning activities for a holistic learning experience. I believe that a child-centric, play-based approach is best for young children as they learn.
I strive to create classes that spark my students' interests, engage with their curiosity, and inspire them to go even further in their learning. I love seeing my students get excited about reading, writing, creating, and exploring.

For my early reading tutoring classes, I follow the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing. I'm committed to helping your child learn the basic literacy skills they need to succeed in their reading journey. I use high-quality materials and individualize each tutoring lesson to fit your child's specific learning needs.

I've been teaching online for over 4 years. I began my teaching journey as an online ESL teacher, and then transitioned into teaching online preschool and early reading/writing classes.

I've been working with children for over 10 years as a babysitter, nanny, and tutor.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing. Currently, I'm working on getting an associate's degree in early childhood care and education.

In addition to teaching, I also write fiction for young adults.

I love spending time at home with my husband and our two kitty babies, Kiki and Teddy. Once in a while, you may get to see a kitty in class too!
