Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
This class is a basic introduction to airplanes for our little aspiring aviators of the world. This is similar to my other Introduction to Aviation class, however this one is geared toward younger learners (5-7yo). I am a Navy veteran, a former FAA Air Traffic Control technician and a certified teacher who is excited to share what I love about both of my career paths. I will use a very engaging, interactive google slide show to give an overview of some basic types of aircraft as well as the main parts of an airplane. After we go through all of the slides together and learn about the parts of an airplane students will get a chance to complete a fun labeling activity to apply what we learned about the parts of the airplane. I love for my students to share their ideas and questions with the group in a lively and respectful way. The only thing that students need to take this class is an interest and curiosity about planes and flying. This class may not be for students who already have a deep love and knowledge base about aviation as it is an introductory class. However, please check back with my class listings if you have an eager aviator looking to learn more because I will have more advanced classes coming soon.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to name two main types of aircraft and the basic parts of the body of an airplane.

🤩Welcome to the Joy Factory! 🤩

I believe that all students learn best when they are enjoying themselves in the process, that’s why I call my “classroom” the joy factory, because I aim to create joyful learning experiences for all students.

I have found, through my 10 + years of teaching, that any of the core academic skills taught in school (reading, writing, math) can be taught with greater success (and joy) through topics of interest to the student. It can be even more joyful when the teacher is passionate about the subject. This is why I am so excited to be offering classes about aviation, science, and nature - all things that I have loved since childhood, as well as the traditional reading and writing classes but with a fun approach.

So, if your child loves any of these things too, take a peek at my classes and come join us for a joyful learning experience. I can't wait to meet you!
