Get ready for Algebra 2. Solve problems, refresh your algebra skills and share strategies from Algebra 1. Topics reviewed are linear and quadratics equations, solving systems of equations, exponents, radicals, and polynomials.

US Grade 9 - 11
This camp meets twice a week and reviews a topic each week from Algebra 1. The topics are listed below by week. The material will cycle every five weeks. Each session begins with a warm up activity or discussion to prepare the learners for the review. Next, an example problem is solved together with step by step explanations. Learners can present different approaches and strategies to solve the problem. Then learners work together or individually on a set of problems. Learners are encouraged to share solutions and ideas on how to the solve questions with the group. The session ends with an assessment activity, a game or fun quiz, to check understanding.
Week One Solving and Graphing Linear Equations Week of June 11 and July 16
Week Two Solving and Graphing Quadratic Equations Week of June 18 and July 23
Week Three Solving Systems of Equations and Systems of Inequalities Week of June 25 and July 30
Week Four Exponents and Radicals Week of July 2 and August 13
Week Five Polynomials and Algebra 1 course review Week of July 9 and August 20
The lesson will include slides for visual support and discussions. This course is a review for a student who has completed an Algebra 1 course and needs a refresher before beginning Algebra 2.Learning Goals
Learners will review and improve their understanding of the following topics from Algebra 1; linear equations, quadratic equations, systems of equations and inequalities, exponents, radicals, and polynomials.

Pencil and paper. Access to desmos.com or another graphing program may be helpful. Desmos is a math website that allows learners to graph. No account is necessary.

I formulate clear explanations and guidance by asking probing questions that direct learners towards the solution. I am committed to lifelong learning and continuously review and refine my teaching strategies based on student feedback and questions.
