During this 12-week class, students will cover the first semester of High School Algebra 2. Class time will be spent discussing topics and problems together as a group, with students encouraged to take notes. Both individual and group work will be utilized to reinforce understanding of concepts, and active participation is highly recommended. The final 5 minutes of each class will be dedicated to addressing questions, concerns, and homework. The class schedule includes an introduction to polynomials, complex numbers, factoring, polynomial division, polynomial graphs, rational exponents and radicals, and a review of advanced topics. Khan Academy will be used as a resource for quizzes and unit tests, with progress tracked by the instructor. A free online textbook and pre-recorded lessons will also be provided for learners. Students should have a working knowledge of Algebra 1, and high school geometry prior to enrolling in this class. Regular practice outside of class is required through assigned homework to reinforce concepts and improve retention. The pace of the class will be determined by the readiness of the students. The instructor will wait for 10 minutes after the scheduled start time before ending the class. Handouts, guides, and worksheets will be available as needed at no cost. One-to-one tutoring is also offered at an additional cost. Class Schedule: Class #1: Introduction to Polynomials- What are they? Different terms along with adding, subtracting, and multiplying terms together. Class #2-3: Complex Numbers - dealing with Imaginary i and what is it, adding and subtracting complex numbers, and etc. Class #4-6: Factoring - Using different techniques for factoring and learning which formulas to use for different of problems. Class #7-8: Polynomial division - Dividing polynomials. Class #9: Polynomial graphs - Finding zeros of polynomials, dealing with intervals, etc. Class #10-11: Rational exponents and radicals - multiplying/dividing radicals. Using the rules of exponents to deal with more advanced problems and simplifying. Converting from radical to exponential form. Class #12: Left for review/advanced topics
