Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner Level
Algebra I is the foundation for all other math courses you can take and future science, computer science, or business courses. Algebra is a cumulative subject, which means that each new concept builds on the last one. Algebra is about finding patterns and then working with patterns with symbols, tables, graphs, and words. Modeling and problem solving are at the heart of the curriculum. In Algebra 1 you will also practice explaining your reasoning in writing and in front of your classmates.

Students will spend a great deal of class time working on practice problems as well as learning new material. Frequent mistakes are expected, and in many instances, necessary, to help students further explore concepts and deepen their understanding. We will be utilizing powerpoint, and google classroom where I will provide all the material for them. Including worksheets, check in problems to check our knowledge.

Unit three and four is about quadratics, irrational numbers, absolute value and piecewise functions. We will focus on each topic in depth to fully understand materials. I will provide check in "quizzes" before we move on to make sure students are on track.
