In this ongoing class, I will walk students through the skills needed to understand and confidently answer problems in Algebra. We will cover: algebra, equations, inequalities, functions, linear functions, systems, exponents, polynomials, quadratics and radical expressions. I will demonstrate the steps needed to solve the problem and have the students watch. Then the students will work through several problems with me and be encouraged to talk me through solving the problems. After this, students will be able to do our last few problems of the class on their own using the steps we've practiced. As students get stuck or held up on a problem, we will use it as a time to encourage them and help them figure out the next step to solve. Worksheets will be provided for students to work on following classes but not required to complete. - Week 1 (August 22) : Add/Subtract/Multiply/Divide Rational Numbers - Week 2 (August 29) : Powers/Exponents - Week 3 (September 5) : Order of Operations/Simplifying Expressions - Week 4 (September 12) : One/Two Step Equations - Week 5 (September 19) : Multi-Step Equations and Equations with Variables on Both Sides - Week 6 (September 26) : Absolute Value Equations - Week 7 (October 3) : One-Two Step Inequalities - Week 8 (October 10): Two-Step Inequalities - Week 9 (October 17): Multi-Step Inequalities - Week 10 (October 24 ): Graphing Relationships/Relations/Functions - Week 11 (October 31): Writing and Graphing Functions - Week 12 (November 7) : Scatter Plots and Trend Lines - Week 13 (November 14) : Arithmetic Sequences - Week 14 (November 21): Identifying Linear Functions/Using Intercepts. - Week 15 (November 28): Rate of Change and Slope. - Week 16 (December 5): Slope Formula. - Week 17 (December 12): Midpoint and Distance Formula. - Week 18 (December 19): Slope-Intercept Form/Point-Slope Form. - Week 19 (January 3): Slopes of Parallel and Perpendicular Lines
