The class will be delivered through a lecture styled presentation with opportunities given for students to ask questions and share their thoughts throughout the lesson. We will learn about his childhood, career and his active involvement with the African National Congress (ANC) and its activities. We will also discuss the Rivonia Trial which led his imprisonment for 27 years. Students will learn of his dedication to the reconciliation and unification of the people of his country during his Presidency. During the lesson presentation, we will do a quick virtual tour Robben Island Museum. The Island is popular tourist destination and a UNESCO world heritage site, known for serving as the imprisonment site where Mandela spent 18 years of his life. NOTE: Class may extend for few minutes if learners are actively engaged in discussions. Please check the parental guidance section before enrolling. Thank you.

Parental Guidance
This class will discuss apartheid and some events associated with it. We will also discuss Mandela’s imprisonment and some of the harsh conditions he and other political prisoners were subjected to while serving their terms. Please assess your learner’s ability take in this information before enrolling. Your guidance is advised.
