In this class, students will learn about the life of Nelson Mandela and how he committed his life to fighting apartheid in order to advance the lives of black people in South Africa. We'll also take a virtual visit to Robben Island via Google Earth.

Class experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Students will learn about the life of Nelson Mandela, his sacrifice and achievements.
I have a BA and MPhil in Sociology. I have taken courses in African history. I understand the importance researching the subject from reputable sources before creating and teaching the lesson in class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This class will discuss apartheid and some events associated with it. We will also discuss Mandela’s imprisonment and some of the harsh conditions he and other political prisoners were subjected to while serving their terms. Please assess your learner’s ability take in this information before enrolling. Your guidance is advised.
