This is the 5th class in African History. African history is intimately connected with slavery. The Indian Ocean slave trade, Trans- the Saharan- Red Sea Slave Trade, and Trans- the Atlantic Slave Trade. Although the Trans-Atlantic Slave is widely known, the Indian Ocean Slave Trade predated it by 1000+ years, was longer, and had more Africans enslaved in the Far East. This class will cover Africa in Diaspora such as Turkey, Iraq, and Persia who were empowered by the recent history. The class will cover - Parts of the continent where each slave trade took place. - Tribes that were affected by each slave trade. - Timelines - Society before, during, and after the slave trade. - African Diaspora - The Impact of Slave Trade in Africa and the rest of the world. The Class will be taught using PowerPoint, You Tube, and First-hand stories from people whose ancestors lived through the various trades. Week 1: Arab Slave Trade Week 2: Trans-Saharan Slave Trade Week 3: Trans - Atlantic Slave Trade
