Not only is reading an essential life skill, but it can be a source of entertainment. In this course, students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade dive into classic novels for this age group. Through completing class activities, students will practice reading comprehension skills, identifying plot events, describing characters, determining problems, defining vocabulary words, and recognizing themes in books. For each book, students will be given reading comprehension questions and vocabulary to complete while reading. The instructor will post video introductions for each new book, providing students with necessary background information. During each class session *We will review reading comprehension questions, vocabulary, main plot points, characters, and discuss important quotes/themes/concepts from the reading. *Students will also play Blooket based on the assigned chapters.
