Class Experience

Didn't you just absolutely LOVE Encanto? Me too!! The music, the story, the characters, the powers. It was all just amazing. Let's get together talk about the movie and play Kahoot trivia with questions that goes beyond the characters and their magical powers. We'll discuss much of the hidden meaning behind the movie and the connection to Colombian culture. I am not an expert on Colombia and other Latin American countries, but I do love to travel, explore and learn about cultures and places. I hope to share some of this excitement with others. Learners should watch the movie prior to class so that they can fully participate in the discussion. Plus, we don't want to give away any spoilers!

Learners will need either a second device or be able to split screen to participate in the Kahoot game, as you'll need to be able to see the Zoom window and play the Kahoot on another device/window. You do not need to log in, register or download an app to play Kahoot.

In order to fully participate in the Kahoot, learners will need to be efficient readers.

Maryland Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I grew up in Wisconsin where I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Stout. I've taught for the public school system for 14 years in a variety of positions including classroom teacher, interventionist, ELL teacher and elementary science lab teacher. I hold a Masters Degree in Reading and School Administration from Johns Hopkins. After leaving the public school system I've spent the last several years teaching middle school Science and History at a homeschool tutorial while being a homeschool mom. I enjoy teaching hands on engaging courses that spark the interest of students with the ultimate goal of encouraging them to become life long learners. I welcome student interaction and questions.

In my personal life I LOVE to read, travel and explore new areas, especially the beach! I am a Girl Scout leader and adore every single girl in my troop. As a troop leader I am certified in several outdoors areas- archery, canoe, kayak, camping, etc. I can't wait to share some of my love of the outdoors with families here on Outschool.
