Each week, I will introduce the topic with both a video and PowerPoint. Learners will be provided handouts, copies of my notes, plus an independent task to do related to the topic. The course is designed to be very hands-on with interactive activities and handouts students can use either now or later on in their lives. We will be using the Outschool Classroom for this class as a means of streamlining the videos, assignments/tasks, discussions, and more. It's the best way for me to assess...
Students will learn skills applicable to the real world and learn how to navigate the real world challenges, loaded with information and confidence to be successful young adults.
I taught personal finance classes for 20 years in public school, but my real expertise comes from being an adult myself and for raising two newly-turned young adult children.
Each week a task will be assigned to the learners to complete if they wish. The tasks will be short, but they should also be useful and applicable to the topic we are discussing that week.
Learners should have access to a calculator for this class in addition to access to the Internet for activities.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If a parent wishes to have a formal assessment, I will provide that at the conclusion of class. I will be an active participant in the learning process and will be providing written feedback for each task the learner completes.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
