In this class, students will learn what ADHD is, techniques to channel those impulses from ADHD into positive classroom behaviors, developing a more positive self image by managing impulse control caused by frustration. I am a teacher who has had success with helping students with impulse control. My teaching style is interactive so that I can keep the kids' attention. My topics will include organization, disrespect, blurting out, not finishing work, getting frustrated during work, getting frustrated at an adult, getting frustrated with a peer, unstructured time (class change, lunch, pe), anger, as well as what the students want help with. Class Structure: 5 - Minutes - Warm - Up Getting to know you / Weekly progress 10 - Minutes - Identifying the Impulse (We will also look at Famous People who had ADHD) 15 - Minutes - Positive Impulse Control 5 - Minutes Q&A Schedule of Topics Week of January 21 💎 I can’t do the work! This is stupid! Week of January 28 💎 Blurting Out, Butting In Week of February 4 💎 Poor Sense of Danger- Poor Choices- that can involve more than just a discipline referral at school. Week of February 11 💎 Positive Self Image…You HAVE the Tools! Week of February 18 💎 Understanding Impulses Week of February 25 💎 Hands to yourself....What's the Big Deal? Week of March 3 💎 Disrespect- Control your words! - Week of March 10 💎 I’m different. Not such a bad thing! Week of March 17 💎 Organization….I promise I did the work! Homework? What Homework? Week of March 24 💎 BAD morning…BAD day? Week of March 31 💎 Can’t finish the Work? Week of April 7 💎 The need to move…… It’s normal! This class is on a rotation schedule, topics will repeat. I'm a certified /licensed tenure teacher who actually enjoys teaching kids with attention and impulse "problems." I have spent several years in my education learning techniques that can can help students succeed. The structure of this class is to identify common ADHD impulses and provide techniques to overcome those impulses. My teaching style is interactive so that I can keep the kids' attention. I will show video clips for discussion. My topics will include organization, disrespect, blurting out, not finishing work, getting frustrated during work, getting frustrated at an adult, getting frustrated with a peer, unstructured time (class change, lunch, pe), anger.

Learning about ADHD may be difficult for some students. The goal of this course is to education students with ADHD and without ADHD about Impulse Control within ADHD and the keys to success in education. My topics will include organization, disrespect, blurting out, not finishing work, getting frustrated during work, getting frustrated at an adult, getting frustrated with a peer, unstructured time (class change, lunch, P.E.) and anger.
