Addition for Beginners

In this one time class we will practice addition problems up to 5.  This class is a great fit for students with little to no background knowledge in addition.  We will all work together to solve addition problems up to 5 together and practice writing our numbers along the way.  I will differentiate each lesson, the best of my ability, based on the learner's prior knowledge. We will use a hands on approach with using manipulatives to create addition sentences.  We will start with the teacher giving examples and then each student (if comfortable) will lead the class in their own addition problem.  This class is for the students who want to begin working on addition. Hands on learning is a successful way to teach students as it can lead to increased retention and is a more engaging way to learn.  No addition experience is required but must be able to count up to 5.
