Class Experience

We will be learning how to solve word problems with up to 3 addends. This is a first grade level topic. 
The class will be structured the same way every day so the students know what is coming and have consistency. We will begin with a short lecture with visuals followed by completing math problems together. The student will then work on the short worksheets provided independently which we will then go over in class. Last, but not least, we will end with a fun quiz game! 
I am very patient with the kids. There will not be a question that goes un-answered and no student will feel out of place! My classroom is a welcoming environment where everyone has a good time!
The students will get to interact throughout the classes when we are working on problems together. 
Some pre-requisite knowledge for these classes will be that the students know their numbers 1- 120, and can read at about a 1st grade level.

Learning Goals

1.OA.1- Class 1, Students will use subtraction and addition within 20 to solve word problems. 
1.OA.2 -Class 2, Students will solve word problems that call for the addition of 3 numbers within 20.

Worksheets that need to be printed for the 2 classes are attached. Please have those, and a pencil available.

I am an 8 year teacher and have enjoyed every second of it! I enjoy teaching all types of classes...math, reading, art, social skills, you name it! No matter what it is that I will be teaching, you can rest assured we will have FUN!

I have my Masters in Special Education with a concentration in low incidence as well as my bachelors in cross category which covers both General Education and Special Education. 

My philosophy behind teaching is to make sure the students are having fun and engaged! There is nothing worse than learning a tough subject AND being bored doing it! My goal is to teach students in a way they will understand while having fun doing it!

A little fun and personal about me; I live in the sunny state of Arizona with my family of 4. We have 1 cat and 1 dog. I am a huge animal lover! My kids are 6 and 8 who really love making slime!
