Class Experience

This is an introduction to addition and how to use a plus sign. The students will learn about addition and how to use a plus sign through an interactive slide show. They will practice adding two groups together to get the total number found in each group. They will also practice writing out the equations as they listen to the different math stories being read aloud to them.

I like to make my lessons fun through engaging my students in conversations and having them interact by showing and creating their own math problems. They will be able to share what they would do if they were a plus sign at the end of the class. Prior experience with counting up would be beneficial. They need experience with recognizing numbers 1-10 and they should be able to write the numbers 1-10.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of addition and a plus sign.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Welcome to my Outschool classroom! I LOVE teaching through pretend play. My classes are for young explorers, ages 3-6, and I offer many different types of classes that are taught through fun and interactive adventures. Your little one will have so much fun exploring ABC's, counting, landscapes, and animals, as we go on our various adventures, all while building foundational math, reading, and speaking skills!

I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and I have 8 years of teaching experience. I have experience as a 2nd grade elementary teacher and as an online ESL teacher, to children ages 4 to 12. I also have experience with teaching play-based learning activities to small children, ages 18 months to 5 years old.

I am a mother of three. I have two girls, 13 and 3, and I just recently had my baby boy. I appreciate your support of my classes, as they are what are helping me to be able to stay home with my babies.

I believe that learning should be engaging and fun, all while challenging students to think critically and creatively. I also work hard to build relationships and engage every child that joins my virtual classroom. I really do enjoy teaching online and I work hard to make sure that each student has the best learning experience in my classes. Please reach out if you have any questions. I hope to see your learner in my classroom soon! :)
