3 in-class hoursClass Experience
This course bundles 4 classes that are listed separately. It consists of Adding and Subtracting Integers: Students will learn the rules for adding integers and take notes on it. The rules will be expressed using counters, which they will be able to draw, and then we will move on to only using counters mentally and focus more on using only rules. They will then apply it to examples and create their own examples for other classmates to solve. During these interactions students are able to identify errors to further their understanding. They will continue to do the same thing with rules for subtracting integers. Adding and Subtracting Integers in Word Problems: Students will start class by reviewing the rules for adding and subtracting Integers. They will recite the rules and apply them to a few skill based problems to show comprehension. Once we have reviewed the rules we will move on to the word problems worksheet. Students will start by reading the word problem and identifying the key words needed. They will learn to identify and eliminate unnecessary information. Students will determine what keyword or phrase helps you identify the operation needed to solve the problem. Students will then organize the data given to solve the problem. This worksheet consists of guided practice, problems that will be solved as a class, using questioning to check for understanding. It also consists of independent practice, where students will have an opportunity to model the steps learned. Multiplying and Dividing Integers: We will start class by defining what an integer is. Students will then learn a strategy to let them know what to do when multiplying and dividing integers. Students will use this strategy to determine the sign of the final answer when multiplying and dividing. Once the strategy has been modeled, students will work on skill based problems to implement the strategy. Students will work on problems given and then will work on problems provided by other students while checking for accuracy. Students will then work on problems on a worksheet, these problems will be both skill based and word problems. Multiplying and Dividing Integers in Word Problems: We will begin class by reviewing the strategy needed to multiply and divide integers. Students will work on a few skill based problems to fully comprehend the strategy. We will then move on to the word problems found on the worksheet. Students will first identify the key words that will help us determine the operation needed to solve the problem. Students will also determine what data that is given would help us solve the problem and what data was given as a distractor. Students will take turns responding to questions to solve each problem.
Learning Goals
Students will learn solve problems with integers involving all operations including word problems.

External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
This is a lesson that I have taught both in a public school with a class of 30 students and in private tutoring setting, and I have always been able to identify the misconceptions regarding this lesson. This helps me adjust the lesson to individual needs.
