In this one-time class, students will learn how to solve addition and subtraction problems using multiple strategies. Some of those strategies are part-part-whole, place value, open number lines, and compensation.

In this one-time class, the students will learn how to add and subtract within 120 using multiple strategies. Some of those strategies are part-part-whole, place value, open number lines, and compensation. Using the whiteboard I will demonatrate how to add and subtract using each of the strategies. The students will then solve addition and subtraction problems using those same strategies. Next, the students will complete addition and subtraction problems on their own and will participate in class discussions as to how they solved the problems.
Learning Goals
The goal of this class is for the students to learn how to add and subtract within 120 using multiple strategies.
