WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT?
In this self-paced course, students will learn key spelling strategies specifically designed to help them improve their spelling skills for the ACT and SAT. The course will focus on mastering common test words, spelling rules, and vocabulary commonly tested in the Writing and Language sections. Students will also gain confidence in their spelling abilities, boosting both test scores and writing skills.

HOW IS YOUR CLASS STRUCTURED?
This is a self-paced course, which means students can access lessons and materials on their own schedule. Each week, learners will receive:

✅ Spelling bee challenges for active practice

HOW WILL YOU TEACH?
The class will be taught using a mix of video lessons, interactive quizzes, and fun, test-based challenges. Each lesson will focus on one core aspect of spelling—such as spelling rules, vocabulary, or strategies for mastering tricky words—and will include examples, explanations, and practice exercises. The students will engage in:

Spelling for Test-Taking Success
 Students will be able to:
• Identify and master common spelling errors that impact ACT/SAT performance, including words frequently tested in the Writing and Language sections.
• Apply spelling rules and patterns to commonly misspelled words, ensuring accuracy on the ACT/SAT.
• Use strategies to improve spelling under timed test conditions, reducing spelling mistakes in high-pressure settings. 
Lesson 2:
Tackling Test Vocabulary & Complex Words
 Students will be able to:
• Break down complex vocabulary words by identifying their roots, prefixes, and suffixes to improve spelling retention for ACT/SAT vocabulary.
• Correctly spell high-frequency academic words commonly found in the ACT/SAT reading and writing sections.
• Recognize spelling patterns in context, enabling them to confidently apply these skills to test questions and writing tasks. 
Lesson 3:
Spelling Rules & Patterns for ACT/SAT
 Students will be able to:
• Master essential spelling rules, such as “I before E except after C,” to improve spelling accuracy on the ACT/SAT.
• Differentiate between commonly confused homophones (e.g., affect/effect, accept/except) to avoid spelling errors on the ACT/SAT.
• apply spelling rules and patterns to challenging words, boosting confidence and test performance. 
Lesson 4:
Spelling Bee & ACT/SAT Application
 Students will be able to:
• Participate in a fun, low-pressure spelling bee using ACT/SAT-style words, reinforcing their spelling skills for the exam.
• Integrate their spelling skills into writing exercises, improving their performance in the ACT/SAT Writing and Language sections.
• Review key spelling strategies and techniques, ensuring they are prepared for test day and confident in their ability to avoid spelling mistakes.
