The Pre-Primer sight words 6-10 are the focus of this class. The focus words are [funny, go, help, here, I, in, is, it, jump, little] 1. Introduction of classmates 2. Presentation of words 3. Sing-song using words 4. Sentences Using Words 5. Dance and Large Motor Movement using words (open space required) 6. Visual Discrimination Activities involving identifying missing letters in words, the position of letters in words, and identifying the odd word out within a field of four. The Dolch Sight Words list is the most commonly used set of sight words. Educator Dr. Edward William Dolch developed the list in the 1930s-40s by studying the most frequently occurring words in children’s books of that era. The list contains 220 “service words” plus 95 high-frequency nouns. These words comprise 80% of the words you would find in a typical children’s book and 50% of the words found in writing for adults. Once a child knows this list of words, it makes reading much easier, because the child can then focus his or her attention on the remaining words. Let's get this party started! Teacher Nikki

Hello! I am Teacher Nikki!
I am a mother of four wonderful children, now aged 28, 26, 24, and 16. I hold a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, a master’s degree in Reading Instruction, and a specialist degree in Instructional Leadership. With 24 years of professional teaching experience, I have had the privilege of working with students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Additionally, I volunteer at my family church, assisting students up to 12th grade, and I also serve as an ESL tutor for students learning English. I love working with students and helping them discover the joy of learning.
Outside of teaching, I am an avid reader and love to cook delicious meals and treats for my family and friends. Some of my favorite book series include Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Teaching is not just my profession; it’s my passion, and I find it incredibly rewarding and enjoyable.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with your child and help them succeed!
