Class Experience

Students explore the fundamentals of acting practice through exercises and acting games each lesson. It is my goal that students learn how to work together and build collaborative skills while exploring their creativity.

Class will always begin with a warm-up or icebreaker activity. We will spend time doing body and vocal exercises before diving into the activity or exercise of the day. This is a highly interactive class and some activities require students to work together.

Games/Activities in our class could include but are not limited to the following-

April 26th: Body/Voice Warm Ups, Introduction to Acting and Improv (Learn GOTE, Contextless scenes)
May 3rd: Body/Voice Warm Ups, Acting and Improv (Monologues, Improv Games)
May 10th: Body/Voice Warm Ups, Improvisation Games (Hitchhiker, Banana Pudding, Slide Show)
May 17th: Body/Voice Warm Ups, Ensemble Games (Werewolf!, Commercials)
May 24th: Body/Voice Warm Ups, Ensemble Games, (Class Favorite Activities)

Some classes and games may be learner led and based off of student preferences/attendance and abilities.

No experience is required.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello parents and students! Thank you for visiting my profile.

I am an elementary school teacher specializing in creative drama. Currently, I teach full time in a 2nd grade classroom. Outside of the classroom I work extensively in partnerships with many arts organizations, schools and theater companies across Chicago to bring educational theater programs to life. I am pursuing a Masters in Elementary Education from DePaul University and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Kansas State University.

I am excited to bring my skills to Outschool and to reach students with a spark for theatre and play from around the world. In my classes, your student will learn about the importance of collaboration and ensemble building in addition to the technical skills that make up a wide range of theatre disciplines; including, but not limited to acting and musical theatre. It is my objective to encourage students to explore their creativity in a space where they feel safe and supported.

I look forward to seeing your child in class!
