In this exciting flex course about acting in Hollywood, learn about the filming industry and get equipped to actually land real acting roles for TV and movies! 

This is a flex class, which means you take it in your own time and post your thoughts for others to see here in the classroom.

WEEK ONE: WELCOME TO HOLLYWOOD 
 
Monday - Thursday 
Learn the basics of how the film industry in America is set up and acting related terms. Begin to understand how you fit into Hollywood as an actor or actress. Explore your hopes and dreams for your acting career as you establish goals for what you want to accomplish.

WEEK TWO: AGENTS, AUDITIONS & BOOKINGS
 
Monday - Thursday 
Discover what an acting agent is and learn about creating a great headshot, starting your acting resume and filming / editing a demo reel. Learn how the agent helps get you acting jobs. Explore what people get paid for various roles and the fees taken by the agent. 

Learn about the process of auditioning for roles in Hollywood. We'll cover what happens on audition day, and you'll learn how to prepare for your auditions. We'll talk about what to wear, how to practice a script, how to work with the client, and how to be in constant learning mode even if you don't get the role.

WEEK THREE: BEING ON A FILM SET
 
Monday - Thursday 
Learn what it will be like your first day on set! We'll talk about call times, actor trailers, hair and makeup, costuming, craft service and other things you'll need to know. Explore some of the key people on a film shoot such as producers, directors, script managers, costume designers, etc. Learn how to behave professionally while filming.

WEEK FOUR: TIPS FOR FILM ACTING
 
Monday - Thursday 
Learn tips for acting on film and explore how it's different from acting on stage. Discover how to take direction from the production team, use a clapper, and how to reshoot scenes. Explore a variety of phrases you will hear on set, such as: "roll sound", "pick-up", "back to one", and "that's a wrap." Work on responding to hand signals the film crew gives while shooting.

I'm a professional actress and film producer. I started acting at the age of three and have been in film acting roles throughout my life including numerous commercials, TV shows and movies. As a member of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG-AFTRA), I have over 35 years of combined on-screen experience, and I love sharing this industry with the next generation of actors and actresses!
