Class Experience

** A B O U T T H E C L A S S **
-This is a group class to learn the basics of acting.
-All levels of experience are welcome! (A beginner’s mind is the best way to become a master.)
-Students are encouraged to let me know if there are any specific goals, characters, or abilities they would like to concentrate on.
-We will develop the tools of the actor: voice, movement, emotions, objective, conflict, subtext, improvisation, etc.

** O U T L I N E **
- Introduction: getting to know each other and setting goals.
- Dynamic warm-up games
-Then, we ACT! We will work on getting playful with emotions, the fundaments of acting (notice that FUN is in there), and feeling confident performing a piece of theatre and/or film depending on what the focus of the learners might be.

** C O U R S E O B J E C T I V E S **
-Using our body, voice, emotions, improvisation, and imagination as tools to express our own unique creativity!
-The course will culminate in a live reading of an original script that we will write together, based on characters and stories you are most interested in.

** C L A S S E S **
-During the first class, the student and I will explore what their goals, dreams, and interests are. This helps me create a unique course of action tailored specifically to them.
- In the second class, we will explore the fundamentals of acting, and begin to explore our interests for the script we will write together.
-In the third class, we will read the first draft of the script. Learners will be able to get feedback on their acting and give notes to tweak the script. Using improv we will develop each character’s unique voice, physicality, and inner life.
-In the fourth class, we will rehearse the final draft of the play, receiving notes before the “final show”.
-In the fifth and final class, we will perform the final show, and receive feedback for areas to keep working on.

** C R E D E N T I A L S **
-University Degree in Professional Theatre and Playwriting
-14+ years experience in teaching, coaching, and professional acting in theatre, film, TV, Voice-over, and video games.

We are going to have so much fun. See you soon!

◾️ I N T R O ◾️
Hey! I’m Laurent Pitre! I’ve been a professional actor, writer and teacher for over 14 years. When I was a kid, my favourite movie would determine my future job: Jurassic Park - paleontologist, Apollo 11 - astronaut, etc. Once I took my first real acting class, I realized this was my dream, and I made it happen. The best teacher is experience. And the second best, for the performing arts, is a working & experienced artist. That is me, so sign up, and let’s play!

In class, I help students gain the confidence to express themselves, to explore their creativity, and to live their dreams.

I believe that each learner is unique, so each class will adapt to their goals, their interests, and their abilities. My focus is play, respect, and confidence-building. I believe that positive reinforcement coupled with achievable challenges guarantees personal success. We keep it fun, with lots of laughs as we learn!
