Class Experience

This one-time class students will learn frequently used verbs (likes, needs, goes, is) and fun vocabulary in Spanish. The teacher will tell the story while repetitively using words and constantly ensuring students' understanding. Students will listen and repeat, as well as provide details to the story that the teacher purposefully leaves out in order for students to establish ownership in the learning process. The topic of this particular story is sports and it is silly. The teacher provides visual aids by posting the Spanish and English translation of many of the words used for students to reference. Comprehensible input is the instructional technique used during this class in which most of the content will be understood by the learners, making it more easy to acquire. There will be constant interaction between the students and teacher as we tell the story together and the teacher asks clarifying questions to the students throughout the story. Students require no prior knowledge or experience in speaking or understanding Spanish for this class.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their ability to understand and speak Spanish. They will be able to recognize and say frequently-used verbs including the following: likes, needs, is, wants and goes. They will be able to understand and retell at least part of the story in the target language.
