OVERALL ======== During first session, student will take an entire year assessment test (e.g., Khan Academy's Get Ready math assessment) to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, I encourage the parent to send me by email the math material/concepts the child is currently struggling to master. I will create a study plan that will include custom curriculum and handouts to help a student with the process of learning. My resources include: • Barron's Common Core Success • Barron's Core Focus • Brain Hunter Math • Carson Dellosa Education Math • DeMystified Math • Easy Peasy All-In-One Homeschool Math • Elevate Prep ISEE Middle & Upper 2023 Edition • Evan-Moor Math • IXL Math (worksheets, workbooks, and website) • Kaplan SSAT & ISEE Prep 10th Edition • Khan Academy website • Lumos Learning Math • McGraw Hill Education Math • Momentix SSAT Middle & Upper 2022 Edition • Princeton Review SSAT & ISEE Prep 2021 Edition • Spectrum Math My style is interactive so I will be presenting one strategy/topic at a time then giving your child a chance to practice several math problems via Zoom's White Board with my guidance so I can see if they are mastering before going to next topic. Here are TWO examples of exams I have experience with: SSAT ==== The SSAT is the Secondary School Admission Test that a student takes as a private school entrance exam. In this class, we will do practice drills and practice tests for 4 of the 5 test sections. The SSAT is 2 to 3 hours depending on Level (elementary, middle, or upper) and it has 4 sections of multiple choice and 1 writing sample section (we will NOT be practicing writing). SECTIONS we will study/practice and length of actual test: 1. Quantitative / Math = 30 minutes 2. Reading = 30 to 40 minutes 3. Verbal = 20 to 30 minutes 4. Quantitative / Math (2nd math section) = 30 minutes (only for middle and upper) There are 3 LEVELS depending on what grade your child is going into: 1. Elementary Level: 4th or 5th grade going into 5th or 6th grade 2. Middle Level: 6th, 7th, or 8th grade going into 7th, 8th, or 9th grade 3. Upper Level: 9th, 10th, or 11th grade going into 10th, 11th, or 12th grade ISEE ==== The ISEE is the Independent School Entrance Examination that a student takes as a private school entrance exam. In this class we will do practice drills and practice tests for 4 of the 5 sections. The ISEE has 4 sections of multiple choice and 1 writing sample/essay section (we will NOT be practicing writing). SECTIONS we will study/practice and length of actual test: 1. Verbal Reasoning = 20 minutes 2. Quantitative Reasoning = 35 minutes 3. Reading Comprehension = 35 minutes 4. Mathematics Achievement = 40 minutes There are 6 LEVELS depending on what grade your child is going into: 1. Primary Level 2: 1st grade going into 2nd grade 2. Primary Level 3: 2nd grade going into 3rd grade 3. Primary Level 4: 3rd grade going into 4th grade 4. Lower Level: 4th or 5th grade going into 5th or 6th grade 5. Middle Level: 6th, 7th, or 8th grade going into 7th, 8th, or 9th grade 6. Upper Level: 9th, 10th, or 11th grade going into 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
Learning Goals
To prepare a student to be confident and ready for End of Grade, ISEE, NWEA / MAP, Renaissance / Star, STAAR, SSAT, or math placement exam. To find different (and fun) strategies that make sense to your child that will help them solve math problems on their own.

“Kahoot! is a global learning platform company. Kahoot! games can be played anywhere, in person or virtually, using any device with an internet connection.” A Kahoot! game is a quiz with multiple choice answers and the games include topics such as Year End Math Assessment. Kahoot! is a fun way to test a student's knowledge of a math topic such as adding fractions, multiplying decimals, solving for area of a rectangle.
Kahoot! app is free and does not require an account. The teacher provides the website link (http://www.kahoot.it) and a game pin then the student creates a silly screen name; thus, no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Kahoot!
“Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computing, history, art history, economics, and more, including K-14 and test preparation (SAT, Praxis, LSAT) content. We focus on skill mastery to help learners establish strong foundations, so there's no limit to what they can learn next!”
Khan Academy is also a free app and for this class will not require an account. The teacher will share screen of quiz questions, so no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Khan Academy.
