This course will cover the Middle School NGSS Physical Science Standards in a hands-on and engaging way! Real-world problems, situations, and problem based learning will drive student inquiry throughout this course. Students will have multiple opportunities to interact with other students and myself throughout this course in order to get the most out of their online experience. Students will meet 4 times a week for instruction, demonstrations, group work and experiments. The rest of the week will provide students the opportunity to complete projects, interact with other classmates through platforms such as Outschool discussions, and complete online simulations. Students will have multiple performance assessments throughout the course in order to assess their understanding in addition to problem-based learning projects and experiments. The following topics will be covered during this accelerated course Force & Friction Newton’s First Law & Inertia Newton’s Second Law & Calculating Acceleration Newton’s Third Law & Momentum Thermal Energy Conduction Convection Radiation Types of Waves Sound Waves Visible Light Reflection & Refraction Electric Charge & Force Electric Conductors and Insulators Circuits Series and Parallel Circuits Magnets Earth’s Magnetic Field Review This is an entire semester of physical science condensed into four weeks. After each lesson, students will be given several options to complete for homework for the week including worksheets, labs, and projects.

Welcome to Seed and Stem Learning Center by Bailey Nelson and Kenneth Kirk!
As a prior public school teacher, Bailey experienced the positive difference that scientific inquiry can have on students. Kenneth, who received his Bachelor's of Business Degree in Economics, found a passion in educating young students the improtance of financial literacy and business education. Bailey and Ken used this inspiration to create a program that allows students to connect across the globe through quality and inclusive education.
Although students take classes virtually, they will be inspired through hands-on and real-world applications and problems. Through our engaging courses, students will develop (or enhance) their love of all subjects by connecting to real-life applications and problems.
Teachers and tutors are all vetted through a rigorous process that focuses on scientific inquiry, problem-based learning, and hands-on pedagogy. Teachers come from a variety of backgrounds including education, economics, engineering, and computer science.
Course Policies:
*Students must provide a camera check at the beginning of class to ensure safety for all learners unless verified by Outschool.
*Ongoing classes are charged on a weekly basis. Prorated refunds based on days attended during the week will not be provided. All class recordings and materials are provided if your learner misses class.
