This fun & exciting 7-week Science Preparatory Camp will provide your rising 3rd grader with a head start in the upcoming school year. In addition, these concepts will also better equip your child when they take their state test this year.

What's included

7 live meetings
5 hrs 15 mins in-class hours
Homework
1 hour per week. The students will have homework after each class. They will be asked recall and open-ended questions where they will have to apply what they learned to correctly answer the question. I ask that the students review what was what they learned every day. Optional: I ask that the students dedicate 15 minutes of study time each day.
Assessment
The students will be assessed as they engage in discussions and as they interact in a question-answer session at the end of class. This will guide my instruction. I will review what the students need.

Class Experience

US Grade 3
This fun & exciting Science Preparatory Camp takes a modified, thematic approach to 3rd Grade Science. The students will be introduced to the major themes in 3rd grade science. This camp will provide your rising 3rd grader with a head start in the upcoming school year. In addition, these concepts will also better equip your child when they take their state test this year. The following topics will be discussed:
Week 1 - Inheritance & Variation of Traits
Week 2 - Natural Selection
Week 3 - Static Electricity
Week 4 - Forces & Interaction
Week 5 - Balanced & Unbalanced Forces
Week 6 - Extreme Weather
Week 7 - Climate & Life in the Biomes

Different modes of instruction will be used. The students will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, independent reading, and open-ended questions. Students will learn about genetics & heredity and natural selection. This section will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, independent reading, and open-ended questions. The students will learn about forces & interactions. This will be taught using pictures, video clips, slides, discussions, lecture, independent reading, and open-ended questions. The students require the 2nd grade science course.

Learning Goals

Students will be introduced to major 3rd grade science concepts. After a very challenging year, they will build up their confidence. The students will be able to apply what they learn when taking their state assessment. The students will improve their understanding of the world around them.
