Abstract Art Camp

Students will explore process art to create abstract art using atypical materials that encourages their creativity to flourish. 
Class will meet for 30 minutes, 3 times a week. 
Each class students will use new materials to create abstract art pictures that they will be proud to display for others to see. This class encourages decision making and fosters creativity, which also encourages social and emotional development and promotes confidence. 

Class will be structured in the following format. 
Introductions: We will begin class by introducing ourselves to each other. Followed by an introduction of the materials and method we will be using during class. 
Directions: Step by step students will follow directions to set up their art area before they begin.  
                  Students will be shown the teachers final product, and the method behind the art will be explained. Students will be encouraged at this time to make decisions based on their choice of colour, size and material.
Creating Art: Together we will begin to create our abstract art masterpiece as we discuss the colours we chose and why? What this makes us think of? Other materials we could use to create art using a similar method. 

Monday 1: Marble Art 
Materials: marbles (5-10), water, paint, 3 small cups for paint, tray with edges, white card stock or paper. 

Tuesday 2: Shaving Cream Cloud Art 
Materials: shaving cream, tray or large plate, food colour, tooth pick or popsicle stick, white card stock or paper. 

Wednesday 3: Bubble Pop Art
Materials: food colour, bubble juice, bubble wand, white card stock, 3 small cups for bubble juice.

Table clothes or newspapers are always recommended on the surface where students will be creating.
