US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
Beginner Level
Welcome to our Hands-On ABC Fun class (Part 1: Letters A - L). 👩🍳👨🍳In this class, we will learn 2 new letters each week for 6 weeks by making no bake alphabet treats & completing letter activities such as letter songs, letter/phonetic sound search, guessing games, & writing.🎶🎉 🎲Students will also receive weekly games to be played after class for more ABC fun. Letter games include as ABC movement games, letter bingo, find the letter, and more! .................................................................................................................................................... ⭐⭐HOW IT WORKS: Please note that this is a flex class which means that there are no live meetings for this class. It is self paced. Learners are free to complete this class at their convenience. EACH WEEK at 9am CST starting on the first day that this class is scheduled to start, you will receive the following: ⭐2 PRE-RECORDED VIDEOS (approximately 20 minutes each) of myself teaching each lesson as if the student were actually in the class. (Letter introductions, letter searches & games, treat making, song, & more on each video) ⭐2 optional ABC phonetic games that will be introduced in the video to play with your little one at a time of your choosing (one for each letter that we will be learning that week) ⭐Weekly supply list for our ABC snack creations - most of these items will be items that you already have. Please feel free to substitute as needed. ⭐Personalized feedback in the form of a video or email message if your little one post their snack creations or show & tell items to our classroom page ..................................................................................................................................... 📚I will start each class video with our letter introductions. We will sing letter songs, learn phonetic sounds, play guessing games, & learn to recognize our capital and lowercase letters and the phonetic sound that our letter makes in a fun, playful way. After searching for our letter & the sound it makes, we will practice writing our letter of the week (with our pencils in a fun, non-formal way.) 🍎🐻😺Show and tell is welcomed for our letters of the week. Students are encouraged to post pictures of items that begin with our letters that we are learning that week to our classroom page. I will also bring something to share for each letter.🍎🐻😺 🖍️✂️Some of our letters will include an additional optional activity which may be completed if desired. Most of these include a song which we will sing in class to reinforce our letter and sound in a fun way. 👨🍳👩🍳We will then begin to create our fun food snacks. Each class, we will create a different food snack that starts with the letter that we are learning. I will provide guidance for our snack creations, but students are free to use their own artistic abilities to create their snacks as they wish. Every snack will be perfect! 💛 🎲Before ending each video, I will introduce our letter game that will be sent to play with your child. Printouts of these games will be included. Games such as Hide/Find the Letter, Letter Bingo, Letter Scavenger Hunts, and more. 🎶We will end our class each week by singing the ABC song. 🎶 ❗There is no baking required for this class.❗ INTERACTIVE: 🔵I encourage all students to post pictures of their ABC snack creations that we make each week. They may also post their show & tell items or anything related to our letters of the week. FEEDBACK FROM ME: 🔵I will personally respond through a personalized message or personalized video to all videos and posts that are submitted by each student to give them praise for a job well done! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ***WEEKLY SUPPLIES NEEDED: Students will need the snack items for our letter of the week. These items are very minimal and can be substituted for items that you already have. Weekly supplies will be posted on our classroom page as well with a picture of what we will be making each week.*** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No experience is needed for this class. ⏲WEEKLY SCHEDULE:⏲ Week 1: Letter A - snack to prepare in class: apple stackers Letter B - snack to prepare in class: banana pops Week 2: Letter C - snack to prepare in class: cat cupcakes/cookies Letter D - snack to prepare in class: dirt cups Week 3: Letter E - snack to prepare in class: elephant cookies Letter F - snack to prepare in class: fire truck graham crackers Week 4: Letter G - snack to prepare in class: graham cracker ginger bread house Letter H - snack to prepare in class: horse cookies Week 5: Letter I - snack to prepare in class: marshmallow igloo Letter J - snack to prepare in class: peanut butter & jellyfish snacks Week 6: Letter K - snack to prepare in class: kite cookies Letter L - snack to prepare in class: ladybug apples .................................................................................................................................... Please note that if our letter of the week is a vowel, we will be learning short vowel sounds in this class. Short vowel sounds are the sounds that your little one will encounter first in C-V-C words. Teaching multiple sounds at once is very confusing to children. Long vowel sounds are easy to add in later (after all, each letter says its name.) This class is perfect to learn or review the alphabet and letter sounds in a fun, hands on way. It is great for preschoolers, kindergarteners, & homeschoolers. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I also have over 4 years of experience teaching English as a second language.
Learning Goals
There are many benefits to letter games & learning through play such as helping children develop their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength. These activities are important to healthy brain development. It is through play that children at a very early age engage and interact in the world around them. Students will learn to recognize the alphabet and the phonetic sounds by doing various fun activities.
Some of the many benefits of allowing your child to prepare food items include the following: Increases Language Development, Enhances Fine Motor Skills, Increases Math Ability, Improves Reading Skills and Letter Recognition, Introduces Kids to Scientific Concepts, Teaches Life Skills, & Encourages Family Bonding
