Class Experience

Hello parents; I am excited to share with young aspiring artists and designers the various art techniques and rendering methods used to create beautiful fashion illustrations.
We will cover the basics of the how to draw the human figure and how it compares to the fashion figure.
Students will practice drawing clothing on their fashion figure. They will learn to develop their own style of fashion illustration.
We will study trends and popular fashions and their origins which will help assist the young artists with their own designs.
We will work with and study live fashion models via video and photos.
My teaching style consists of lecture, hands on demonstration of art skills using art instruction and fashion images and video.
I encourage verbal engagement from my students and try to inspire creativity and originality among my art students.
Students can voluntarily share their work and are encouraged to participate with class discussions.
Students in this class need to be already passionate about fashion design, clothes, styles, beauty and well practiced in drawing these kinds of images. No drawing expertise is needed but student artists need to have an interest in improving their drawing skills and learning from the teacher and other instruction materials used by the teacher. Some students may have more drawing skill than others and that's okay because all of the students can share and support each other.

The Weekly Lessons are Listed Below: ( Each week the same supplies are suggested and listed in the Supplies List.)
Here is that list repeated:
These are recommended but(optional) supplies. Students will need drawing pencils ( HB, 2B, 4B) are recommended.
A good mechanical pencil with proper led will work also. White Plastic Eraser and/or Kneaded Eraser, Parchment Drawing paper works very well with sketching and creating fashion design layovers.
A good quality Drawing Book or Pad with spiral binder works also.
A good set of markers, (Soucolor, Caliart, Crayola Super Tips) colored pencils, watercolor paper and paint can enhance rendering of the designs. A well lit drawing area while in the virtual classroom helps the teacher to critique artwork.
OPTIONAL:
The teacher uses a drawing camera (In Swan) which is a valuable tool for young artists. It looks like a lamp and views the art from above. It comes with a USB plug for laptops, IPads and computers. This lamp/camera is very reasonably priced on Amazon if parents are interested.

Greetings mom and dad. I am so excited to share my 20+ years of experience with your children. I have enjoyed a successful career as an Arts Educator specializing in youth by utilizing the arts as an educational tool for healing. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Columbus College of Art and Design.
I will be offering classes that empower youth, raise self-esteem and challenge creative solutions to solving problems. If your child could benefit from character building and recognizing their own talents and strengths, I can assist.
My classes are engaging and include writing, art related projects that address the interests that your students share in class. Your child will walk away from this virtual online experience with a better sense of self and awareness of their own special unique gifts and talents. Building confidence is one goal that I feel is so important to becoming a self assured individual.
My classes always embrace the beauty of our multi-cultural world with love and inclusiveness. We are all people with merit and we all deserve a chance to live amazing lives.
My classes are taught with lots of joy and laughter. I love to challenge young people and encourage them through the creative process. My classes are organic but with purpose and intent to leave my students with a holistic, positive experience.
