This class will take you on a mesmerizing journey through Kyoto, the cultural heart of Japan, known for its timeless beauty, traditional arts, and historical landmarks. Whether you're a history lover, a culture buff, or simply curious about the wonders of Japan, this class is perfect for you!

① Learn about Kyoto’s unique characteristics that set it apart from other cities in Japan and the world.
②Discover Kyoto’s iconic landmarks, from the golden splendor of Kinkaku-ji to the sacred Fushimi Inari Shrine and the tranquil Arashiyama Bamboo Grove.
③Explore Kyoto's cultural districts, such as Gion, known for its geisha traditions, and Nishiki Market, famous for its culinary delights.
④Dive into the rich history of Kyoto, from its origins as the imperial capital to its role in preserving traditional Japanese arts and culture.
⑤Understand Kyoto's influence on modern Japan, from its traditional crafts and festivals to its influence on contemporary art and culture.
⑥Savor Kyoto’s culinary delights, including matcha-flavored treats, traditional kaiseki cuisine, and the delicate flavors of yudofu (tofu hot pot).

★ Date & Time: July 29th, Saturday at 10:00 to 10:50 am EST (and additional dates if there is enough interest)
★ Platform: The class will be conducted using Zoom, YouTube, and Google Slides for an immersive and interactive learning experience.
★ Assessment: After the class, there will be an assessment to test your understanding and knowledge of Kyoto’s rich cultural and historical significance.
★ Series Information: This class is part of our “A Look at Japan” series, covering various regions including Tokyo, Hokkaido, Osaka, Hiroshima & Nagasaki, Okinawa, and Kyushu. Future classes may explore additional regions such as Nara, Shikoku, Mt. Fuji, Yokohama, Nikko, Niigata, and Tohoku, depending on interest.

Parental Guidance
We will discuss in brief the geisha which has strong and important ties to Kyoto. Geisha were not prostitutes but highly paid entertainers, conversationalists, and people of the arts.
