Diversity is important in STEM as these fields often shape the world's future. In this series we will learn how ideas did just that, the women behind them, and the basic science behind their impact. Each class will include a brief presentation of the scientist and field of study (10 min) and an experiment to solidify understanding (45 min).

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching STEM for four years with a few different organizations to include Graduate Women in Sciences Hawai'i. With this organization, I was the Outreach Coordinator and was in charge of creating all our outreach events for three years. Because of this experience with my fellow researchers I have a broad knowledge of the basics concepts of many scientific fields.
I also have special expertise in many of these areas:
(the arctic and antarctic studies): I have conducted research in the Antarctic peninsula and visited the arctic circle
(enzymes): I am currently earning my degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemical Engineering
(frequency hopping): I served 8 years in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist where I mainly worked on frequency hopping radios
(animal science): I have both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Animal Science
