Learn how to create your own dream Roblox game in Roblox Studio

Class experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
Learn every step of making your own dream Roblox game from sounds, animations, graphics, earning currency, game goals, and of course, most of these goals involve scripting.
NEW!! This class has now been taught over 500 times!

My general background is in math holding a PhD in the subject, but I have years of Roblox game making and teaching experience and nearly 25 years of teaching experience in general.
Homework Offered
These classes will be taught differently based on the needs of the student. For repeat students, it's important to know that the best learning will come when the student spends the time to make their own game. Therefore, my only requirement is that the student spends at least some time on their own between meetings in order to practice and implement any skills and techniques we develop and discuss. Based on the students needs, the sessions themselves may become a little bit intense: making a successful Roblox game IS NOT EASY!
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The student will easily be able to assess their own progress. They are the ones directing the course. For example: if the student's initial goal is to make a combat game, yet if they are not able to do this, they will know they have not progressed as much as they should have.
Grades Offered
A basic knowledge of Scratch would prove useful, but it is not required.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Absolutely, I understand the importance of ensuring a safe and enjoyable learning experience for all students. Throughout the class, I'm dedicated to maintaining a positive and supportive environment.

Regarding content, I focus on guiding students to create within the Roblox platform using appropriate materials and elements. While the class doesn't directly delve into content that could be upsetting or scary, I encourage students to explore their own games and gain inspiration from a variety of sources. I believe that playing other games can be a valuable source of inspiration for young game designers.

It's worth mentioning that while some parents might have concerns about video game play, allowing students to play other games can actually foster creativity and critical thinking. Gaining insight from various games can help them develop their own unique ideas and approaches to game design. Ultimately, the class aims to strike a balance between fostering creativity and respecting individual preferences.

Please rest assured that my aim is to provide engaging and educational activities that prioritize safety and creativity. In terms of third-party tools, we primarily utilize Roblox Studio for our activities. This platform allows students to design, create, and develop their own games directly within a controlled environment. No additional accounts or external tools are required.

If you have any specific concerns or questions about the content or tools used in the class, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to address any queries you might have and ensure a positive learning journey for all students.

Thank you for your trust and support in making this class a rewarding experience for your child.
The most important reference is the Roblox developer webpage:

https://developer.roblox.com/en-us/.

Be sure to have Roblox Studio downloaded on the same computer you have the Zoom App downloaded.

Also, optionally, there are several useful text books you can get. Beware, the information in all textbooks quickly goes out of date as Roblox is constantly updating their codes!
