Class Experience

Is your child struggling with knowing what sounds vowels make? Students in this course will be taught short vowel sounds by first showing children what your mouth looks like when you make each vowel sound. Next, by introducing students to cute characters and songs. Finally, students will also make their own paper puppets to use as visuals to help them remember the song and the short vowel sound. This class will include singing, movement, coloring, and cutting. I believe students learn best when using as many of their senses as possible. Students will need to recognize and know the letter name for each of the vowels...a,e,i,o,u...in order to be successful in the class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I enjoy teaching classes that have to do with reading, cooking, sewing, STEM, and quilting. I have a masters degree in education specializing in reading and literature. I have worked with students and families from birth to college for 28 years. I have taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, fourth grade, 5th grade, 6th grade, and college courses. I have also worked as a daycare director, parent educator, and a coach. I believe that learning should be fun and interesting and prepare students for their future. I strongly believe that students learn in different ways and it’s important for the teacher to present material in various formats. A fun fact about me is that I love to vacation at the beach but hate hot weather!
