During this class, learners will practice singing for others for the first time and learn strategies for coping and managing state fright and performance techniques including how to use a microphone, mistake recovery and improvisation. Role playing will be utilized in this lesson to navigate fictional performance scenarios.Week 20Lesson 20Virtual RecitalCelebrate your growth with this cumulative class performance! During the performance, learners will sing their favorite songs from the course as a solo for their peers. Other songs not learned in class may also be performed with prior approval from the instructor.

1. Learn how to breathe properly for singing. 2. Master the right posture for singing. 3. Sing with correct vowel shapes for A, E, I, O and OO. 4. Develop use of head voice (described as 'light singing' in this class) 5. Boost confidence and express emotions in singing. 6. Understand how to maintain vocal health, including rest, sleep, exercise, and hydration. 7. Explore vocal techniques across a diverse range of repertoire. 8. Cultivate social and emotional skills through group singing. 9. Understand the basics of Kodaly including solfege and Curwen hand signs.
I am a professionally trained classical singer with over twenty years of experience. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Kean University and possess a K-12 music education standard license. Over the past decade, I've had the privilege of serving as an elementary choral director in New Jersey's public schools while also providing private vocal instruction. I have a successful track record of guiding my private students to achieve audition success, secure solo and theatrical roles, and gain admission into prestigious choral programs.
Homework Offered
To maximize the value of this course, it's important for learners to engage in consistent practice. 5-10 minutes of daily practice is ideal for this age range. No formal homework will be assigned outside of the expectation of consistent practicing.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learner progress is assessed informally and this class does not provide formal grades. While there are no official grades for this class, parents can expect to receive two progress reports for their learner during this course which will provide additional information on their learner's overall vocal development.Grades Offered

The following multimedia elements are utilized to provide supplemental background to learners... *Multimedia Elements Included In This Course* -Prerecorded Accompaniments: To be performed by instructor on piano or using the corresponding instrumental tracks. -YouTube Videos: Learners will occasionally watch YouTube videos which are relevant to learning topics and the curriculum. These videos are meant to enhance the course experience and engage a wide-range of learning styles. All YouTube videos utilized in this course are directly embedded into weekly lesson presentations for the course so learners will be able to enjoy them without leaving the Outschool platform.
