Welcome to an enriching 9th & 10th-grade reading and writing class where students will master all of the core skills from a typical semester. Students will learn how to decipher informational articles as well as write two different types of essays. Text Features & Prewriting
First, we will read the informational article and practice using text features to analyze the structure and point of view of the text. Then, we will use a graphic organizer to prewrite our expository essay.

Citing the Text & Drafting
First, we will cite the text while writing summaries and inferences.
Then, we will work on a rough draft of the expository essay.

Context Clues & Revising
First, we will use context clues to determine the meaning of vocabulary words. Then, we will revise our rough drafts.

First, we will determine the main idea and write an objective summary of the article. Then, we will edit our essays into a final draft.
