In this 4-week, twice a week class, students will learn and practice close reading and analysis skills needed for Argumentative Nonfiction Texts through lecture, guided discussion, and group and individual practice. Students will understand the various strategies for successful close reading of Argumentative Nonfiction texts and will write a synthesis essay at the end of class to demonstrate understanding for a writing score and feedback.
I am a certified secondary English teach with a BA and MA in English. I have tutored collegiate academic writing since 2000. I have also tutored AP Language, AP Literature, Human Geography, AP World History, AP US History, and AP Government/Econ. for over 10 years. I have also tutored ACT English and ACT Reading for several years. The materials that we use is content that I have gathered and used with all my face-to-face students.
Homework Offered
Any writing or assignments not completed in class will be completed and submitted before the following class session.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will receive a participation scores for each class session. Students will receive a rubric score and feedback for their final writing project.Grades Offered
