Class experience

US Grade 9 - 10
This class is taught in English.
1. Montessori Principles: In a virtual Montessori classroom for 9th and 10th graders, the primary learning goal is to integrate Montessori principles into all aspects of education. This includes promoting independence, self-directed learning, cooperative learning, and a holistic approach to education that focuses on the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of the student.

2. STEAM Education: Another important learning goal is to provide students with a strong foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). This can be achieved through hands-on activities, project-based learning, and interactive learning experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation.

3. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL): SEL is a key component of a virtual Montessori classroom. The goal is to help students develop their social and emotional skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. These skills are essential for academic success, as well as for creating a positive and supportive learning community.

4. Literacy Development: In a Montessori classroom, literacy development includes not just reading and writing skills, but also the development of critical and analytical thinking. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of literature and texts from different genres, analyze them, and express their thoughts and ideas in written and oral form.

5. Entrepreneurship Education: Montessori education encourages independence and creativity, which are essential qualities for entrepreneurship. The learning goal in a virtual Montessori classroom is to help students develop an entrepreneurial mindset through opportunities for problem-solving, innovation, risk-taking, and business development. Students may also have the opportunity to participate in real-world entrepreneurial projects and challenges.

Overall, the learning goals in a 9th and 10th grade virtual Montessori classroom that focuses on Montessori, STEAM, SEL, Literacy, and Entrepreneurship are to promote holistic development, critical thinking, creativity, and independence while preparing students for future academic and career success.
👋 Ms. Robertson, Secondary Guide

Hello! My name is Ms. Robertson and I am a dedicated secondary educator at Quantum Montessori School. I have been teaching for over 10 years and I am truly passionate about inspiring and guiding students in their academic and personal growth.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Secondary Education, with a focus on Science and Technology. I believe that education is the key to unlocking a student's potential and that it is my responsibility to create a supportive and challenging learning environment for my students.

In my classroom, I strive to create a dynamic and interactive learning experience, where students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and explore their own interests. I am a firm believer in the Montessori approach, which allows students to learn at their own pace while encouraging independence, creativity, and self-motivation.

As a secondary educator, I primarily teach 10th-12th grade students and I am dedicated to preparing them for their future academic pursuits. I am constantly seeking new and innovative ways to engage my students and keep them motivated to learn. I also make sure to incorporate real-world examples and current events into my lessons to help my students make connections to the outside world.

I am excited to be a part of the Quantum Montessori School community and I am committed to creating a positive learning experience for my students. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and exploring new technologies that can enhance my teaching practices.

I am looking forward to meeting my new students and helping them reach their full potential at Quantum Montessori School. Let's have a great year of learning and growth together!

👋 Mr. McJunkins, Secondary Guide

I have always been passionate about teaching and helping others reach their full potential. I believe in the power of education and strive to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

I graduated from Rutgers University with a dual degree in English and Africana Studies, which has given me a strong foundation in both language arts and cultural diversity. My love for literature and writing has been evident since I was a child, and I am dedicated to instilling that same love in my students.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I pursued a master's degree in Special Education. This has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of different learning styles and cater to the individual needs of my students. I have experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, and I am committed to creating personalized learning experiences that foster growth and success.

At Quantum Montessori, I am fortunate to work with upper elementary and secondary students. I am continuously impressed by their curiosity, creativity, and eagerness to learn. I am committed to providing them with a challenging and engaging curriculum that not only expands their knowledge but also encourages them to think critically and explore their interests.

In my classroom, I prioritize building strong relationships with my students and their families. I believe that open communication and collaboration are essential to create a supportive learning community. I am a firm believer in the Montessori method and incorporate its principles into my teaching to encourage independence, self-directed learning, and a love for lifelong learning.

When I am not in the classroom, you can find me exploring new hiking trails, reading a good book, or volunteering in my community. I am passionate about using my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in the world.

I am excited to continue my journey as an educator at Quantum Montessori and am committed to making a difference in the lives of my students. I am dedicated to nurturing their academic, social, and emotional growth, and I am honored to be a part of their journey towards becoming confident, compassionate, and successful individuals.

🎉 We are delighted to introduce you to one of your educators and Quantum Montessori™ founder, Ms. Ashleigh Stevens, a Montessori Guide and homeschool mom to three children.

Thank you for taking the time to explore our profile. We eagerly anticipate you joining us on your learning journey. I founded the Quantum Montessori Institute with a team of outstanding educators and leaders. I wanted parents to feel empowered to educate their children from home confidently, while also working, running a business, living an RV lifestyle, traveling the world, or simply seeking a hybrid learning environment. My passion for Montessori has led me to work with a diverse group of youth. My aim is to ensure an equitable experience, one that equally prioritizes the wellbeing of the child, parents, and educators.
Homework Offered
Each day learners should spend an average of 2-3 hours working on independent homework. Homework is optional but recommended to take full advantage of this learning experience and to maintain homeschool records for your learner.
4+ hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessments with a Guide is available upon request.
Grades Offered
Instead of traditional letter or number grades, students are evaluated based on their progress and mastery of specific skills and concepts. This allows children to focus on their own personal growth and development, rather than being compared to their peers. Quantum educators carefully observe and document each child’s progress, providing them with ongoing feedback and guidance for continued improvement. This grading system encourages a growth mindset, where children are motivated to constantly strive for personal excellence and deepen their understanding of various subjects. Through this approach, Quantum Montessori aims to create lifelong learners who are confident and self-motivated.
Supply lists and virtual Montessori learning materials, will be provided weekly in the classroom tab by the assigned teacher the Saturday before scheduled classes to give families time to prepare. Families should have access to a printer for optional supporting worksheets and resources.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Learner access to third-party learning tools is included at no additional cost to families, and will be provided to every enrolled kindergarten learner before their first day of live classes if enrollment begins on a weekend. Tools are provided as an added resource to home-educators to reinforce guidance provided during class time.

On occasion, Google slides will be shown on-screen during live classes and shared with home-educators via the classroom tab for at-home viewing.

Quantum Montessori has created in-house and/or licensed a large library of virtual Montessori materials that will be shared via Google Drive to provide learners equal access to Montessori materials. Some materials (such as golden beads) must be printed and cut out before class so that learners have access to the same learning supports.

To support learners growth, we offer assessments, require home-educator evaluation of learners and request home-educator feedback via Google Forms.

All materials shared during this class are for personal home use only and are not to be used commercially or shared with others. Quantum Montessori owns all the Intellectual Property unless stated otherwise boldly on the individual document.

Minecraft and Roblox are used during learner-led social groups with parent permission and in accordance with Outschool policies.
